The RICOH THETA USB API is available on all RICOH THETA models, including X, Z1, V, SC2, and S. It is based on the PTP/MTP standard for interfacing with cameras over a USB cable. The USB cable can power the camera indefinitely. On Windows desktop, MTP extensions are popular. On Mac and Linux, gPhoto2 and ptpcam are widely used.
Hardware Options
The most common compute platforms are Raspberry Pi and NVIDIA Jetson due to the low cost of the computers and the ability to handle robotic control functions on the same device.
Sleep and Power On
The USB API supports sleep, wake from sleep, and power down. It’s recommended to use sleep and wake. If you cannot access the power button of the camera, you can power on the camera with a workaround.
